Paul talks about pest control with his Back to Eden garden
It’s good to see that he is so willing to do these interviews with you and
share what he knows and has learned over time. Thank you for taking the
time to see him and share with the rest of us.
Thanks again for another great video.
Great info thanks
I hope Paul gives over some prayer time to the issue of deer, rabbits and
voles. It would be nice to understand what they are all about! I’ve got no
understanding there myself.
Thank you so much for taking the time to do this video and thanks to Paul
for his time and willingness to share. We got 3 loads of mulch last week!
We are so excited to get everything set up and ready to plant.
Love the vidoes Thatnub. Question: Paul grows 3 types of Kale: Dino,
Russian, and a third. I can’t quite pick out the 3rd type he mentioned in
this video. Do you know what it is?
I’m not sure which video you saw that in. If you remember give me the name
and a time stamp and I will listen to it. If not, I will add it to the list.
It’s video #12, Pest Control, at about 2:30 minutes. He has farmers
visiting asking about why he has no mud and then continues to talk about
some type of Kale about 4 foot tall. I think he says something like Los
I believe that Paul was saying “Lacinato” kale. I will ask him what types
of kale he grows when I go back up to be sure.
So he grows 2 types of kale (from what I have heard in the clips and
movies), Russian and Lacinato…which is another name for the dinosaur
kale. Excellent. Thanks for double checking the next time you visit…there
may be others. So much yet to learn!
If you don’t have a dog or a cat do you know any other way of getting rid
of moles. The moment I laid down mulch, mole(s) made tunnels in my yard.
Any suggestion will help. Thanks.
Most moles will not eat the roots. They may, however, eat your seeds.
He lived to be 13 years old. I knew it was coming so, I prepared but, it
was hard on Babygirl for a while. I doubt that moles would come and eat the
seeds out of your hand but, yes, if they find them while they are digging
around, they will eat your corn seeds and what not.
I am having a slug problem. Any ideas on why? Is it the wood chips or are
they a part of all of it.?
I have Paul’s answer to this in an upcoming video but, Paul says that
slugs only come when plants are distressed. One thing you can do is dust
the ground with diatomaceous earth.
I wish I could meet Paul and see his gardens in person, lucky you. Good
video but same as Margaret the sound was low when I had it on high. Not
sure you have any control of that but thought you should know. ~peace
Need more detail on his strawberry beds. He said he buries the bed in chips
come winter and in spring the new plants come up. Are there any other
details we should know about strawberry growing his way?
Not really except, when you say burry Paul means just enough to cover the
plants. I left mine out last winter because I wanted them to spread
everywhere and they didn’t need to be thinned. In a couple of years, I will
do this to the strawberry patch on the hill in front of my house.
We have recently moved to a new location and are wanting to use Paul’s
ideas. We have a serious mole and gopher problem. We have just had our yard
sprayed to kill the grubs. I can see it has helped reduce them already, but
what can I do to keep them out of our gardens? We put in several raised
beds at 4X4s. Gophers started eating tomatoes and other plants and so we
had to pull everything out and put wire under each and put them all back.
It is great so far, but I want to get away from these raised beds next
year. Any help would be appreciated, and sorry I’m so long here.
I guess I may have to get a cat. The only problem with that is there are
several dogs that run loose here, and we keep our dogs put up.
I have termite issues, will it be okay to spread wood chips on the garden?
Tremendous wisdom from Paul here…though the volume is very poor.
I am curious about his denomination…. Is he SDA ? Weeds , bugs, pests are
all due to Adams sin. God HAS blessed us ! though not without a whole lotta
I am having a hard time hearing Paul. I can hear the person asking the
questions well but unable to hear Paul clearly even with my volume up
